TUBA Recovery
Transumbilical breast augmentation (TUBA) is less invasive than traditional breast augmentation techniques,
resulting in less pain post-operatively and a quicker recovery time. Immediately after surgery, patients may see
some discomfort and swelling. Any pain experienced is usually mild and easily controlled with pain medication. Women
whose breast implants are placed "under the muscle" (subpectoral placement) may have more soreness than women whose implants
are placed "over the muscle" (subglandular placement).
TUBA patients can usually shower the day after surgery and should wear a post-surgical bra or sports bra
for support for the next couple of weeks.
For the first few days after surgery, patients are instructed to rest, take it easy and follow the detailed
post-operative instructions provided by Dr. Hedden. Most women can resume normal activities within a few days, though
heavy lifting or strenuous sports should be avoided for up to month.

TUBA surgery time is usually less than other breast augmentation methods and is a less invasive technique. Most patients
experience a shorter recovery time because trauma to the body is minimized.
